Any company that hopes to stay competitive in this day and age must be open to change. To “embrace change” is something that The Covenant Car Company Inc.’s (TCCCI) Chairman-of-the-Board, Mr. Jose L. Cuisia Jr., is a proponent of as he mentioned in the Chevrolet Cruze’s launch at the beginning of the year, because change inevitably brings about improvement in our lives.

In fact a big part of Chevrolet’s commitment is in coming up with new solutions to a fit an ever-changing world. General Motors in the United States has already introduced the Volt, garnering good reviews while bagging the title of best car of the year from Motor Trend. It is a step towards GM’s future of churning out more environmentally sustainable vehicles for the changing world we live in.

Though it is true that Chevrolet has the distinction of having one of its cars, the Suburban, as the longest running nameplate in automotive history as a benchmark, it refuses to rest on old victories. New designs and environmental innovations are incorporated into the iconic Suburban units like the Active Fuel Management and Flex fuel capabilities that allow for better fuel efficiency.

Commitment to the consumer continues even after purchase, as evidenced by the assortment of events and activities that the company takes part of on a regular basis. At Chevrolet’s Motorama event in October, Ms. Lyn Buena, TCCCI’s Director for Marketing Services, says the goal was to gather everything Chevy under one roof “to provide customers with worry-free after sales services, special ownership packages and outstanding Chevrolet automobiles that complement and complete their lifestyle.”

Motorama was naturally chock-full of games and raffles for Chevrolet enthusiasts. One of the luckiest that day was Mr. Danilo Tejano, who won the privilege of traveling with his daughter to experience the Macau Grand Prix in November. Mr. Tejano qualified for the raffle after purchasing a Chevrolet Cruze and it was icing on the cake to have witnessed Chevrolet’s back to back win of both Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ WTCC titles.

But over and above Chevrolet’s dedication to providing quality products and excellent service, there is also a new drive to position the brand towards positively contributing to the lives of Filipino people. Discovery Vertical Run is an event that promotes a more energy-efficient lifestyle through simple reminders to simple solutions. A marathon like no other, as it uses the stairs as the race’s main feature, the new concept encourages more Filipinos to consider using the stairs as a small step towards reversing the effects of global warming.

Similarly, Chevrolet showed its support during the November 27’s race dubbed as “Run BGC Marathon” by including a Chevrolet Cruze in the mix, which was won by first time marathon participant, Mr. Timothy Humangit. Chevrolet is all for a change promoting fun and healthy living, and the coveted Cruze, which is a compact sedan infused with all the perks that come with a sports vehicle, is the perfect epitome of that lifestyle.

Proceeds from the event, which is also a partnership with Fort Bonifacio Global City and Discovery Channel, will be shared between WWF and Gawad Kalinga’s environmental arm, Green Kalinga. Another charity event that is close to the brand’s heart is the Philippine Business for Education (PBed) wherein Chevrolet pledges to give twenty-five thousand pesos (P25,000) for every Suburban vehicle sold as their way of giving back to the society. PBed is a non-profit organization that sends teachers to school each year in an effort to improve the educational system in our country.

It has truly been a landmark year for Chevrolet, but the fun and the activities promoting social responsibility doesn’t stop here!
